Since we are talking about current science issues, we wanted to be able to post stories to the web and create graphics from physical exhibits quickly. | | Flickr is a photo sharing community originally organized around amateur photographers. It has expanded beyond this niche audience into one of the largest photo sharing websites in the world. But, because it started off with this base high quality images are easy to be found and the cream of the crop easily rises to the top. Flickr is also a great place to find up to the minute photography. People are odften posting images of events to Flickr while the event is still unfolding. We watched images of Hurrican Katrina roll in on Flickr before the storm made ground. |

| | The best thing about Flickr is that is lets you tag your images with new kind of license called Creative Commons. Essentially this license lets the photographer retain the copyright, while giving lots of people in the community the right to use their images in certain ways. For example, many photographers say that anyone can use their images for non-profit uses and as long as they get credit. |
