Humans have set in motion global changes that will unfold for millennia. The struggle to reconcile human needs and aspirations with the capacity of our planet to support them will be an enduring challenge of the 21st century. Public awareness of and concern about global environmental issues is rising swiftly. Our audiences increasingly appreciate that these issues will directly impact their lives and want to know what they and their families can do and what should happen in their communities, their state, nationally, and internationally. Center for Future EarthWe live in a world being thoroughly reconfigured by human activity. Awareness of the implications of the Anthropocene is vitalfor scientists, students, policymakers, and all citizens if we are to understand and take action on the issues affecting our species and our world. The Museum, therefore, will establish the Center for Future Earth that will include a collaborative website; exhibits shared with its partners; a 3,500 square-foot long-term exhibition; and hosted "talking circle" conversations for community members and policy makers. Overall, the Center will serve as an umbrella entity to coordinate and support the Science Museum's environmental initiatives.
