Public Deliberation about the Science of Early Childhood Development

Brighter Futures will engage public audiences, policymakers, and children's caregivers in deliberations around the latest research on early childhood development.  The goal of the project is to help everyone understand child development, how environment and experiences affect child development, and how we as a society can best support our youngest citizens.

Brighter futures will incorporate recent findings from neurobiology, human development, and learning research to help people better understand the role that policies can play in providing children with strong developmental foundations for a healthy and productive life. The project will include

  • a highly-interactive 1,600 square foot exhibition
  • small-group conversations
  • citizen conferences and public forums
  • two research studies that address issues fundamental to establishing museums as places of public dialogue and deliberation.

Brighter Futures is a collaboration with The Center for Early Education and Development at the University of Minnesota and Public Agenda, a nonpartisan civic engagement organization.
